Chios Beaches

Karfas
The beach of Karfas, where Erytha Hotel & Resort is located, is a few kilometers away from the town and is one of the most popular beaches of the island. Restaurants, cafeterias and car rental stores can be found near by. The water in Karfas is shallow, which makes the beach a perfect choice for families with young children. Moreover, Karfas offers plenty of options to water sports funs. Access is easy either by car or public bus.
Agia Photini
Locals call it Aghia Photia (‘Saint Fire’); this is one of the largest and most popular beaches in Chios, close to Kalimassia village. The beach is full of white-colored pebbles, whereas restaurants and cafeterias can be found near by. Access is easy either by car or public bus.
Komi
Komi is probably the most cosmopolitan beach at the south part of the island. Many visitors are attracted by the beautiful sand and all the restaurants, cafeterias, bars and tourist shops near by. Komi is quite close to Mavra Volia and access is secured by car or long-distance bus.
Mavra Volia
Mavra Volia is also one of the most popular beaches of the south part of the island in the area of Emporeion. The name (‘black bullets’) derives from the volcanic pebbles at the beach, located in between two inactive volcanoes. The water is deep and crystal clear. Restaurants and cafeterias can be found near the beach. Access is possible either by car or long-distance bus.
Giossonas and Nagos
Giossonas and Nagos are two beaches at the north part of the island. Although they are several kilometers away from the town, they are next to Kardamila and attract a lot of visitors because of the landscape’s natural beauty. Access to Nagos is possible either by car or long-distance bus.
Limnia
The sublime beach of Limnia is also located at the north part of the island. Limnia is close to Volissos where restaurants and cafeterias can be found, and it probably is one of the most beautiful beaches of the island with crystal clear waters and an exquisite landscape. Magemena (‘the enchanted’) is a small bay following the beach of Limnia, a unique choice for the romantic people. Access to Limnia is possible only by car.
Daskalopetra
Daskalopetra (‘the master’s stone’) is very close to the town of Chios. According to tradition, this is where Homer used to teach his students. Next to the stone of Homer the bay of Lo can be found, protected by the local yacht club.
Tavernas can be found in all the near by beaches; Here you can order delightful fresh fish, whereas access is easy either by car or public bus.
Lithi
Lithi is a very popular beach at the west part of the island thanks to all the tavernas with fresh fish there.
Access is usually possible by car. At the west part of the island many other beaches can also be found such as Elinda. Visitors take the main road along all these beaches and in a few of those where there is no turn to the beach, they usually walk a few meters to get there. Besides all the beaches mentioned above, Chios offers plenty of other options such as the beaches of Glaroi, Fanoi, Aghios Stefanos and Vroulidia.
